WSD has a dynamic Pre-school through twelfth grade curriculum that is based on Wisconsin’s Model Academic Standards as well as the Common Core Standards for English/Language Arts and Math. The curriculum is designed to meet Wisconsin’s Every Child a Graduate initiative.
Licensed teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing provide formal academic instruction in small group settings. Our emphasis is on creating rich visual environments that develops and maintains both American Sign Language and English. In addition to core academic subjects (i.e. Reading, Math, Social Studies, Science, Physical Education, Art) WSD provides specially designed courses that are uniquely tailored to our student population. Individual Education Plans are developed for each student and implemented throughout the education program.
To compliment and supplement a child’s course of study, WSD provides a wide array of support services and personnel including:

WSD staff members take a holistic approach to promoting socio-emotional as well as academic growth through a range of personalized services to students, their families, school districts, and communities.
